The Stafford Air & Space Museum is proud to offer the Fueling the Future Grant, designed to help Oklahoma schools cover the cost of transportation for museum field trips. We believe every student should have the chance to experience hands-on STEM learning and Oklahoma’s remarkable aviation and space heritage.

About the Grant

Transportation costs can be a barrier for many schools planning field trips. The Fueling the Future Grant provides direct funding to help schools pay for bus transportation to and from the Stafford Air & Space Museum in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Our goal is to ensure that students across the state—especially in rural and underserved areas—have the opportunity to experience high-quality, curriculum-aligned STEM education programs.

Who Can Apply?

  • Oklahoma public, private, and tribal schools
  • Grades K–12
  • Priority is given to schools with demonstrated financial need or serving rural communities

What Does the Grant Cover?

  • Transportation expenses (bus fuel, rental, driver costs)
  • Partial or full reimbursement, depending on funding availability

Any Oklahoma public, private, or tribal school serving students in grades K–12 can apply. Priority is given to schools demonstrating financial need or serving rural or underserved communities.

The grant covers transportation costs associated with field trips to the Stafford Air & Space Museum. This includes bus rental, fuel, and driver expenses. Partial or full reimbursement is awarded based on available funding and need.

Amounts vary depending on the number of students, distance to the museum, and available grant funds. Many schools receive enough to cover transportation completely or significantly reduce costs.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis while funding is available. We encourage you to apply as early as possible to secure support for your preferred field trip date.

You’ll receive notification within 2–3 weeks of submitting your application. If funding is awarded, we’ll work with you on payment or reimbursement details.

Yes! Schools may apply for multiple trips in the same school year, though funding priority may be given to first-time applicants if resources are limited.
