Shooting Star Park

The Playground has an aerospace theme, and is one of the largest playground structures in Western Oklahoma. With a height of over 30-ft., and situated on an elevated area, provides a view of the aviation activities of the airport and surrounding area.

The area has a large covered canopy area with picnic tables and benches for family get-togethers and parties. The playground is packed full of STEAM-based experiences and venues that will maintain the attention of children for a long-time, creating lifelong memories. For safety, a unique pour-in-place rubber surface is placed beneath the playground that makes you feel like you are walking in the air.

The playground  is just Phase One of the new public space. In the upcoming year the City of Weatherford, with support from donors and the Stafford Air and Space Museum Foundation, will develop the remaining 7-acres surrounding the new playground into a destination attraction. The park will incorporate walking trails, additional STEAM-based educational experiences, an amphitheater, a look-out tower, sand and water features, meditation spaces, art and kinetic sculptures, miniature golf course, and wonderful green spaces for all types of activities.

While at the park, families can visit the nationally recognized Stafford Air and Space Museum filled with wonders of aviation of space travel.

We are always happy to see our Harvest Hosts guests!

If you are looking for new opportunities to explore the RV lifestyle, stay with us overnight and enjoy the museum at the same time!

Reservations are made through Harvest Hosts. Our new parking lot is large so you should have no trouble securing a spot. Visit the museum before heading back out on the road! You will be so glad you did.

The museum is a great experience. The staff were fantastic and the exhibits were very interesting and very cool. We parked in a back corner of their parking lot in a level space. Was very quiet and easy to find.

Thumbs up on this site! RV parking is in museum's asphalt parking lot. Room for several RVs. Museum cost us $15 for 2 seniors. Lots of interesting things to see about space and air history. Well worth the admission.

Harvest Hosts guests have the nicest things to say!

Request to stay approved quickly. Nice level, well-marked RV spots, plenty of room. The wonderful surprise was the museum itself. My husband is a private pilot so I hoped this would interest him, and it did. We spent hours looking at, reading about, and learning more than we knew about space exploration and the path to manned-flight. I suspect my husband enjoyed watching aircraft at the neighboring small plane airport as well.

Bus Tour Groups

We are happy to host bus tours of all sizes and ages! The museum is packed with interesting information, hands-on exhibits, and a variety of experiences for groups of all ages. A Must See If Traveling I-40

"Obviously General/Astronaut Stafford has enormous respect in this community, as well as substantial clout for obtaining historical pieces. This museum is obviously well funded. If you are near Weatherford, you need to stop in."
